What goes wrong on date night
You have cleared the evening and the snacks are ready, and then comes the loop. One of you says "you pick". The other says "I really don't mind". The first suggestion gets a polite "maybe" and the second gets a sigh. Ten titles in, the mood is gone and you are both tired of scrolling.
The problem is rarely taste. It is that nobody wants to be the person who overrules the other, so nobody commits. A movie night app for couples fixes that by taking the choosing out of the conversation. Each of you answers privately, and the app shows only what you both said yes to.
How a couples round works
Wecide Movies is a free Android app. One of you opens a room and shares the 4-digit code. The other joins with a name, with no email and no account. The host chooses the kind of night, the genres and a round of 5, 10 or 15 minutes.
Each of you ticks the streaming services you pay for, and the deck only deals films that someone in the room can stream in the host's country, on a subscription or for free. Then you swipe: right to like, left to pass, up for your one Super Like. When both of you like the same film, it is a match. Nobody had to name a title first, and nobody had to say no out loud.
Same couch or different cities
Each of you swipes on your own phone, so the app works whether you sit side by side or live in different cities. On the couch, it keeps the choosing private, which makes passing on a film feel less personal. Apart, send the room code in a message and swipe whenever each of you is ready.
Wecide does not play the film. It helps you choose; you watch in your own streaming apps, and availability varies by country and can change.
Make it a date
Start from the Date night preset if you want a ready-made mix, or build your own night. Set the rating bar to good, great or top rated, which means 6.5, 7 or 7.5 and up on TMDB, if you only want films with a strong score. Narrow the eras if tonight is a nineties night or a classics night. You can also swipe TV shows, or mix films and shows in one deck, when you want to start something new.

When you disagree
Not every round ends in a match, and that is fine. When there is no match, the summary shows the near misses, who liked what and who blocked a film.
Then keep swiping in the same room, start a fresh round with another night preset, or use your one Super Like to mark the film you would most like to see. The disagreement stays visible and friendly instead of turning into a negotiation.
Add friends later
If a quiet night for two turns into a group night, a room holds up to 8 people. Share the code and friends join with a name. A match then needs everyone's yes. Planning a bigger evening? Read about a movie picker for groups.
Free, no ads, no account
Wecide Movies is free, with no ads and no paywall. There is no email address, no password and no account to create. Rooms and votes are deleted automatically about a day after the room is created. The app is for people aged 13 and over.
